What travelers are proverb

  • Very pretty. The bright blue water is very nice. Maybe we get jaded with all of the magnificence of Republic of iceland...this i spot would be striking, just there are so many more impressive ones to see in Republic of iceland.

  • This is a landmark in Husavik, and information technology was enjoyable to be able to go inside and run into the compages. It's not somewhere y'all'd spend a lot of time, but information technology is a pretty place and worth stopping for a visit. It'due south also complimentary to get in!

The Orb itself is a bit boring, just the walk in that location is beautiful (takes about 45 minutes each way if you accept information technology like shooting fish in a barrel) and it's really cool to be able to walk across the chill circle.

  • For a lot of people, to be frank, this would not be worth the long trip to go to Raufarhofn from virtually anywhere. But I love road trips to remote areas and this is one of the more than remote parts of Iceland, and maybe the northernmost settlement in the country, simply a mile or two south of the Chill Circumvolve.

The Arctic Henge seems to have been the brainstorm of a local who, like me, is interested in Norse mythology and ancient monuments, and information technology is already pretty cool if y'all like that kind of thing, continuing on a high hill overlooking the ocean similar most neolithic monuments, and when it is finished information technology will exist magnificent and probably actually puzzle future archaeologists. We were there on a beautiful summertime day, which helped.

The site was surrounded by lupines and we had information technology to ourselves, which was nice. Information technology is conspicuously unfinished, and even the path up to it withal looked unfinished. There were explanatory signs at the bottom.

For me, this was a worthwhile identify to finish, and I'one thousand glad we went. The little village is more interesting than you are given to believe from most writeups, and I hope the Arctic Henge brings more coin and love to information technology!

  • Timing is everything. We were fortunate to be helped by a local and his girl who took u.s.a. in his automobile to the church equally there are far besides many steps for anybody with mobility problems. Unfortunately when we got to the church in that location was a funeral and non open to the public till the afternoon.

E'er a fan of stopping for pictures of lighthouses. Because of the service lighthouses provide, you lot are almost guaranteed a smashing view when visiting a lighthouse. This one does not disappoint. Located correct next to the new Geothermal Ocean Baths, worth taking a infinitesimal to appreciate the view of the bay and surrounding surface area. The lighthouse looks like all of the lighthouses in Republic of iceland, just still continuing tall and regal with this view over the water.

This collection of sod insulated houses, turned into a museum was a great visit. Walking effectually inside was amazing and we were able to ask questions of the attendant concerning the history of these homes. We even got a rundown of the life or Snorri's female parent, an epic worthy adult female.

  • Cute little church. St. Peter's Church is a religious edifice of the Catholic Church which is located in Eyrarlandsvegur 26 and named afterward Saint Peter. St. Peter's Church is noted for its red and white colors. The house was built in 1912. It was caused by the church in 1952 and rebuilt to the St. Peter's Church in 1998 to 2000. We were surprised when we discover this is a church building, because the size made us retrieve it is rather a family domicile . St Peters Church is a beautiful Scandinavian style church and is worth a visit if you lot are in Akureyri.

  • On the route to Siglo we took a short detour and were pleasantly surprised past this church building. There is a dandy deal of history, and an attendant to answer questions. The climb up to the top of the tower offers a view worth the climb.

  • This is a great example of a turf church! It is easy to find and located off a beautiful drive into the countryside south of Akureyri. There is plenty of parking, and although the church is locked the gate for the entrance and cemetery is open. It is worth a visit if you want to see a nicely done turf church without a lot of other tourists nearby.

Overnice to run across a red heart instead of the usual circle! A tribute, we were told, to a local cancer clemency fundraiser.

We collection the east side of this road a couples of times both ways. It is an extremely stunning bulldoze with the best views of Akureyri especially at early sunset. Merely eyesore is the presence of many road excavating machines for more than a mile only at the best view spots. Take no idea of what they were digging but spoiled my pleasure of the drive.
